Adopt Vietnamese children ?

Foreigners permanently residing in countries that are members of international adoption treaties with Vietnam may carry out procedures on the adoption of Vietnamese children according to Vietnamese law. A number of countries have signed agreements or have established cooperative relations with Vietnam under the international convention on intercountry adoption, including:

1. Agreement on Adoption Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the French Republic, done in Hanoi, February 1, 2000

2. 1. Agreement on Adoption Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Italian Republic, done in Hanoi, June 13, 2003.

2. 2. Agreement on Adoption Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Italian Republic took effect from April 21, 2004.

3. 1. Agreement on Adoption Cooperation betwwen Vietnam and the United States, officially signed in Washington on June 21, 2005, taken effect for three (03) years starting from September 1, 2005.

3. 2. The treaty between Vietnam and the United States on special adoptions; according to the treaty between Vietnam and the United States, the adoption from Vietnam takes effect on September 16, 2014.

3. 3. From December 31, 2020, Vietnam and the United States expand the international adoption cooperation program between the two countries; accordingly, Vietnamese children who are eligible for intercountry adoption can be processed for adoptions from Vietnam to US adoptive parents in accordance with the provisions of the May 29, 1993 Hague Adoption Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption and the respective laws of the two countries.

4. Agreement on Adoption Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Swiss Confederation, done in Hanoi, December 20, 2005.

5. 1 Agreement on Adoption Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Canada, takes effect from December 15, 2005.

5. 2. Agreement on International Adoption Cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Quebec, takes effect from January 1, 2006.
